I like how it turned out, but I'm just kind of bored with it. My circle minis sat in their boxes for a while.....until recently. I got everything assembled and started playing some games. I think I'm starting to get the feel for them. But I want them to stand out. Here is what I think I'm going to go with. Kind of an obsidian stone with lava power brewing underneath look. It' much darker then the standard green peace druid look.<br />

Scenario: Destruction (steamroller)<br />
Terrain: Mountains<br />
Weather. Clear Skies<br />
Notes: The way the campaign works you can only play a game as large a the smallest list. We have decided to avoid confusion with casters warjack allowance we will subtract the lowest from the largest to find the difference then use this formula.<br />
larger army allowance greater then smaller army allowance= - the difference from larger army<br />
smaller army allowance greater then smaller army allowance= + the difference to larger army<br />
may seem just as confusing but it works.<br />

As far as units go, these guys were a deciding factor for me when it came to picking a faction. The poses are great and full of action. And the blades are just waiting for something other then a standard metallic paint job. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I wanted to achieve a magical look to the blades. Not exactly a NNM (non metallic metal) per se , but pretty much the same technique. The first thing I did was dry brushed the skulls starting with hawk turquoise, working my way up to white. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">For the blades, I used black for the shadow, white for the light with hawk turquoise in between and blended both directions. </div><br />

The only thing I would have done differently (which I will attempt on Fenris), is this: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">There is a slight border around the skulls that I left dry brushed. I think It would have made a more dramatic effect if I would have reversed the blade effect on these flat parts. </div>jcroxfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116969213449181727noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713370142866783488.post-36030376113481773482010-12-22T17:00:00.000-08:002010-12-22T17:00:02.370-08:00Year 2 - Summer Battle Report 1/4Game size: 35<br />Scenario: Mangled Metal<br />Terrain: Barrens w/ City<br />Weather. The quivering thrall nodded agreement. Asphyxious then slammed his fist to the ground "If these humans are so foolish as to leave a city undefended then we shall take it from them, gather my forces, We March!" Asphyxious may want him to hold his position but he can not hold back his thralls any longer now that Deathjack is amongst them. The blood lust is unbearable, cant he see that now is the time to strike? Goreshade took a small contingent of the many bane thralls available to him headed by the Lord Tartarus himself, a Seether, and brought that silly skarlock that Asphyxious insisted he take with him. The battle was swift and brutal, both sides trading advantage for losses time and again Goreshade falling to just the smallest of errors being caught in a flame thrower his last thought sent to his Seether to try and get him home before he was burned to ash. The Seether got Goreshade to safety, but it cost him everything else he brought, and a large amount of pride he will have to swallow when facing the Lich Lord over his disobedience.<br /><br /><br />Detachment 3 pDeneghra<br />Reinforcements: Nightmare<br />Action: Defended her current location playing mind games with the bordering Khadorans seeing their anxiety rise being this close to the undead and not fighting... yet.<br /><br />Detatchment 4 pQueen Skarre<br />Reinforcements:Sea Witch (-2)Satyxis Raiders x5<br />Action: Was summoned to the capital, stayed put and defended.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cygnar</span><br />Resources:83<br />Build: N/A<br /><br />Detachment 1 eNemo<br />Reinforcements: Journeyman Warcaster, Thunderhead, Stormcallrs x3, Stormtower, Hammersmith, Cyclone, Defender, Lancer<br />Action: Explored current territory, Sand dervish appears and Journeyman warcaster is slain in duel. Went ahead and got dome practice doing the batrep too. First time so don't be too hard on us. Next time ill try not move the camera around so much and we will go to a different format of how we record the turns to include more detail. There are a few mistakes but doing the battle reports is drilling info into my skull so it should improve. Constructive criticism would be welcome.<br /><br /><object height="300" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/afA25088HkU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/afA25088HkU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="300"></embed></object>Death 0F Angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16420467244834702866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713370142866783488.post-23306604908860287742010-11-19T17:00:00.000-08:002010-11-19T17:00:01.985-08:00Khador: WidowmakersI finally managed to complete my widowmakers. Warjacks and most infantry come in pieces that don't lend themselves well to chopping them up. After a bit of thought i decided to start off with some simple things and see where it goes from there.<br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/UjpsV8o5Ax" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9daiZiGjShE6uDBVmS4-BJW6Vf2xxWgj_HE6ixokQOOv5IuCUJEDfnz3Y6wQELUkPWxSwpJSTJn8nifywWgUZpOBeDZHKAb5In3j5EsUv1eWH72NK5gwny5TtzlJ8Dvvr8tAAe5MkxTft/s512/SAM_0323.JPG"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/nGm2LS94uv" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgITELoClqj12urd_7sCJIY1YhX1iubFSJfQq7w6jWj7jK-tVeqHUPN6Du9ac7GbXWlGz2jgyMelQHiUXu45Ojd1FpssAIXdyE3q6uD22o_NMhDZg2Qg8FrDYcGK3E33_8Y7mCtguqLN41S/s512/SAM_0324.JPG"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/hLmR0adsJg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8qtIREpa0n7cBUOX1yNUwC80qEcmJgHxZZryalB_Reiqh-x0X6jLYCR25DXYryiU-JbHwSBOZVeWlXGEidfGrY_-q429M7RysduhBxwxhtdk8LBD_UQ13K3Hxhwa6m72oEcAEJBhUi3U/s512/SAM_0327.JPG"></a>Death 0F Angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16420467244834702866noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713370142866783488.post-84792757602698550012010-11-15T17:00:00.000-08:002010-11-19T09:58:06.365-08:00Basing for cygnarIve decided on my basing for the army. I like to use cork board for basing but i am not a big fan of the texture on the flat surfaces. I thought id go ahead and use some spackling over the top. Has worked out pretty good. Super easy and fairly cheap for the amount of bases you can make with what you get. Ive spend about 25$ and have enough mats to base at least 100 models. Here's the results and an easy little tutorial.<br /><br />Materials you need are spackling, super glue, cork board and bases.<br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/TC2y0yDHli" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSaXGSuOSyH-T0CuVW29v3PPD7YoVn7T8RNuMY3mZ08S6nm4BE8lmEybYMy-NXHJ3hRXU6wmXEXFrKFKCPL7y2DbyzlUi4RbQB0zSWuAoJwbLG_6suvAKv2ixBKl-5xiylobrcQC9X-QxN/s512/SAM_0317.JPG"></a><br /><br />First step is to check where your models feet will sit the glue down your cork board appropriately. <br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/2rsIvjMCis" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM7t7v1Fl5eVwgeO95xf2WgjnstxAs-EiiM8xWNngLwRpYXTUZl9TqJxWHYFuX1rs_lxw8p5uKf39tsscxlWTWLJM_AiVkLDva4phIKqFyLP6_r89Kl-5enZXD29oW_mSMT_4yd1tTiy1a/s512/SAM_0318.JPG"></a><br /><br />Next lather some spackling on.<br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/2czsFTKypZ" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwCBhamZRFieOiOcb8LHJSz2XLxdMJJ3E7ou9VtvtKNeeVR2j3NewYvhUpcctSFMdJYDu3DxOaTxAtiZgNLRSVCv_q9juKXwMHKdaZnJvpOU5l8T6dJCRnnQV8AdfHOHKGMiSrdczJ9Vd6/s512/SAM_0319.JPG"></a><br /><br />Now wash any excess of you hand or tools. With a damp finger wipe the excess off the base.<br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/HK35LCo8PD" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdiNgbqI3v1IYiC2Ftfld_p9MnJ1L3y9zaouzICQYC76cNIPFCECg-uohAPHNjXkUdpLhPFFi5-WrGDThpYwFJs8O9677iIDjHGT4RbX3yxbWFwE9-8aLzGoH9BUyubnSFgbKdG5MNCo3X/s512/SAM_0322.JPG"></a><br /><br />lastly i just take a hobby knife and edge around the base to make sure any excess is off the base and the line around the top is well defined. If you want to give it a bit of texture just dap with a slightly damp paper towel. I will be adding some balast to these after the mini is mounted and statis grass after painting. These 3 took me about 10 minutes. <br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/Wl1lFAWN8e" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhILVbwvrRAe2w2kI9T6K1_Ju1zZ9RNfmhartlzTKYLr-NyqQ4VFOzG4dXQ2eUBJZ-a6148W4hGx72iDnEAMN77lQlo_53HNGPLeQgyne_badPH1upD0Rkm2XiGgSNTjNv2hSz75VsRsm4B/s512/SAM_0316.JPG"></a>Death 0F Angelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16420467244834702866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713370142866783488.post-49825587623174986862010-11-11T22:29:00.000-08:002010-11-19T10:20:18.699-08:00Campaign: Year 1<u><b>Spring</b></u><br />Not much happened here<br />Khador rolled very poorly for initial resources<br />All faction conquered one area<br /><br /><a href="http://goo.gl/photos/A3DKY5Gyjo" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right;margin-bottom:1em;margin-left:1em"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1LGhyD_x3oTvh_hX75muhT36z-DuBVyDuMOI-y-_S73PnakTRDQzCaJhXVBgl6SVP6CT6XvmKgFsY1PNsVyamNxkeFwpp8IfOqY4vk-tXQkqte2BODcPlopgPbByIAJGBrezt9mu_l6s8/s512/IMAG0010.jpg"></a><br /><br /><b><u>Summer</u></b><br />The first battle! Not all warcasters on the board are represented by their model. Next year we will fix that. As battle frequency increases we will probably have to start posting by season instead of year.jcroxfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116969213449181727noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713370142866783488.post-11599430115533259982010-11-08T13:13:00.000-08:002010-11-08T13:13:48.752-08:00Warmachine campaign begins<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.farfaraway.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/warmachine-logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="183" src="http://www.farfaraway.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/warmachine-logo.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Today we embarked on an epic campaign for the Conquest of Immoren. We'll do our best to chronicle the highs and lows of the campaign in this blog. Along with various other topics such as painting, modeling, and trash talking each other. <br />
<br />
We are using the campaign rules <a href="http://ik-campaigns.wikispaces.com/">here</a>, and the Warhammer 40k planetary empires set for our map. <br />

<br />
This is our first go at this and we are tweaking some campaign rules. Campaign posts should come about twice a month. Modeling and trash talking will show up in between. Our first year of campaign was a bit thrown together but in the future we hope to start doing video battle reports and have more organized details on turns. Stay tuned for year one of CONQUEST OF IMMOREN.jcroxfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116969213449181727noreply@blogger.com0
